Scalp micropigmentation

Scalp Micropigmentation in Melbourne

Melbourne is a delivery city, and it is also where everyone flying in from the eastern states is treated — which means the clinic runs both local appointment rhythms and compressed visiting schedules.

Fig. 1The three-session sequence
The three-session sequence with healing gapsThree circular swatches on a timeline, separated by healing gaps of seven to fourteen days. Each swatch shows more impressions than the last: the first session places a light foundation layer, the second builds density, and the third — drawn with a dashed outline because it is decided at review rather than booked by default — completes it. The dots become more numerous, not darker: density accumulates across sessions while the pigment shade stays the same.Session 1Foundation layer7–14 days healingSession 2Density built up7–14 days healingSession 3Judged, not scheduledDensity accumulates; the pigment shade does not change. Each gap lets the skin settle so the next layer is placed against the true result of the last.

Fill depth encodes cumulative density, not pigment darkness — each session adds impressions at the same shade. Session 3 is judged at review against how the first two have settled; it is not scheduled by default.

Whether it suits you

Micropigmentation changes how dense your hair looks. It does not change how much of it there is. That distinction sounds pedantic until you meet someone who expected the second thing, so it is worth being blunt about at the start.

It suits people who are comfortable wearing their hair short, people who want a hairline defined rather than disguised, and people whose thinning shows mainly as scalp visible through hair rather than as absence of hair.

How the sessions work

Two to three sessions, seven to fourteen days apart. Each runs two to four hours depending on the area. The interval lets pigment settle so the next pass is judged against a healed result.

Living in Melbourne means the schedule can follow the scalp rather than a flight. Where people travel in, sessions get planned around trips, and that constraint is exactly what the spacing exists to resist.

Healing and aftercare

Expect pinkness for a day or two and some tightness. Avoid swimming, saunas and heavy exercise for roughly four days after each session.

Melbourne weather is genuinely helpful here. Lower average ultraviolet than the northern and western capitals means less of the fading pressure that drives refresh intervals elsewhere — though a hot February week still warrants a hat.

Longevity and fading

Results soften over years. A refresh at some point is normal and should be part of the plan from the outset, not a surprise.

What affects cost

Area treated, number of sessions the result needs, whether scarring is involved, and whether the aim is a shaved look or blended density. Those are the variables; the number follows them.

Questions

Can I do a session on a weekday and go back to work?

Most people do. The scalp is pink and a little tender, which a cap covers, and there is no dressing to manage.

Does Melbourne weather affect healing?

Not meaningfully. Lower ultraviolet exposure than the northern capitals does slow long-term fading, which affects refresh intervals rather than healing.

How far ahead should I book the second session?

Both are usually scheduled together, seven to fourteen days apart, so the interval is protected rather than negotiated later.

Can I train between sessions?

Light activity is fine after a couple of days. Heavy sweating in the first four days is worth avoiding.

What happens if I keep losing hair afterwards?

Loss continues underneath. A plan that suits today may need adjusting, which is a reason to discuss the trajectory before starting.

Is it different for women?

The technique is applied differently. Density work through existing hair to narrow a part reads very differently from a shaved-scalp result.
