Scalp Micropigmentation

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is quickly becoming a favourite alternative to hair transplantation and other hair loss treatments. Known for its cost-effectiveness and natural-looking results, SMP is the treatment of choice for many people dealing with hair loss.

SMP is suitable for men and women at all stages of hair loss and can be used to treat male and female pattern baldness, thinning or patchy hair, and more. It can help:

  • Restore receding hairlines
  • Camouflage scars
  • Give the appearance of thicker hair
  • Create a shaved look on bald scalps

As the parent company of Foli Sim, Australia’s leading SMP clinic, clients can trust that we will provide high-quality SMP. We offer a 12-month guarantee on our completed procedures; so if a touch-up is required during this time we’ll happily do this free of charge for you.

Advantages of SMP

There are plenty of reasons why you may want to consider getting Scalp Micropigmentation. Clients often cite the following:

  • Once it’s done, it’s done. Unlike other hair loss treatments, there is no daily routine for scalp pigmentation clients will need to follow.
  • You’ll see results immediately after each session, compared to other hair loss treatments which can take months to work.
  • No large upfront costs like with hair transplants or ongoing costs associated with prescribed hair loss treatments.
  • It looks completely natural – most people won’t be able to tell it isn’t real.
  • It can be done at any stage of hair loss, from a slightly receding hairline or patchy hair to complete baldness.
  • It’s a far more affordable ‘permanent hair loss solution’ compared to hair transplantation.
  • No more head shine or thinning areas – with SMP, you get a uniform look.

Of course, when it comes to hair micropigmentation, clients will only get the most benefit by going with a professional SMP clinic. There are many people out there offering subpar SMP – clients should always do their research and focus on the experience of artists and results.

We pride ourselves on offering the best hair micropigmentation the nation has to offer, delivering outstanding results time after time.

Our SMP process

Like with all the services we offer, we start with a full consultation to find out more about your hair loss situation and desired outcome. We assess your scalp for suitability and answer any questions you may have about the SMP process.

If SMP is the most suitable solution, we’ll book you in for a session at our SMP clinic. Clients will have 2–4 sessions, depending on the size of the area and the density desired, with 7–14 days in between for healing.

We use only specialised equipment and pigments designed specifically for Scalp Micropigmentation to achieve fine, natural-looking results for our clients.

FAQ’s

Want to find out more about SMP? Here are some of the most common questions we get during our Scalp Micropigmentation consultations at our clinics.

Does SMP look natural?

Our expertly trained artists are able to match the exact pigment of your hair and use a pointillism technique to capture the fine detail of hair follicles. We take our time, slowly building up the density and texture of your ‘hair’ over multiple sessions, and ensure that the microdots reflect the direction and growth of real hair. Each of our artists is trained to craft a natural hairline and create thicker areas of hair with ease.

How long does SMP last?

Even high-quality pigment will fail with time, resulting in the fading of your scalp pigmentation. Clients should get their treatment redone every 4–6 years for the best results.

How much does SMP cost?

Compared to many other hair loss treatments, Scalp Micropigmentation is one of the most affordable avenues. For SMP, clients should expect to pay:

  • $800–$1200 for mild hair loss
  • $1500–$2200 for medium hair loss
  • $2500–$3500 for advanced hair loss

To ensure that everyone can get the best SMP, Melbourne clients can access 6 months of interest-free finance through our partners ZipMoney.

Do I need to do anything after my treatment?

You’ll need to avoid getting your head wet or sweaty for the first three days, so skip the gym and be careful when you shower. Beyond this, your SMP artist will be able to tell you more about the aftercare process as it pertains to you.

Does SMP hurt?

Considering its similarity to tattooing, many of our clients expect SMP to be uncomfortable, especially as the scalp is so sensitive. And while it isn’t a walk in the park, our clients usually report feeling less pain than they anticipated. This is likely because SMP is less shallow than a tattoo, only going a couple of layers into the dermis.

Of course, your experience will depend on the size of the area, length of the session and your general ability to manage pain.
